I have a fairly complex comp, all in 3d. It’s a HUD interface. I have a main comp with many precomps including status lights and a menu system etc. When I preview to RAM everything works fine. However, when i render to quicktime my target system wich sits in my main comp doesn’t render correctly. It’s almost like it is rendering the target system at half res. If i render out a targa seq or tif seq everything is fine. Has anyone else had any 3d issues with quicktime or seen anything like this?

    Thanks,

I am using After Effects 7.0.1.11
    Quictime 7.1.5

how are you rendering your QT?
    what codec?
    are you rendering eith fields?
anything else, that is different than your settings for tif or targa?

    who is that masked man…

codec none, highest quality, no fields, 23.976 fps
It seems to be a rendering problem. I use quicktimes, all the time with complex comps and have never ran into this before. I have done all of the checks and balances, turning on and of layers, re rendering etc. to no avail. Image sequences have no problem.

I’ve been having the same problem. Anything rendered with Quicktime (DVCPRO, Animation, Uncompressed, Blackmagic) looks like it’s at half resolution when imported into either Final Cut or AfterEffects. I’m using the same render que templates I’ve used for years and this is a new problem. When I render out as a TIF sequence (with the same Render setting as above) the image is good. I’m on a 3 year old dual 2.5 Mac. Any ideas on how to fix this?
    Thanks.
