After Effects not detecting dual cores
Hi all,
Im sorry if this has been discussed before, but i dont think it has becuase its a question specific to my machine (i think).
I went to go render a video clip in regular NTSC as an AVI uncompressed, and the render times that were estimated were rediculas. For a 3.5 minute clip, it was estimating 19 hours.
This lead me to look for ways to speed up the render times so i looked into the OpenGL and multiprocessing options in AECS3. The openGL worked better, but still was giving me 17 hours for the 3.5 minute clip. Heres where it gets really funny. When i went to enable the multiprocessing, the option was not available (it was there, just not available to click on). The description at the bottom of the screen said that i had (0) extra processors available, but 2 PC’s available for use.
Just to make sure, i checked and sure enough my computer has a dual core pentium four processor. Here are my specs:
Pentium 4 dual core 3.06GHz processor
NVIDIA Quadro FX 3450/4000 SDI graphics card (i know…overkill. But avid needed it, and i got it for a really, really good price)
2GB RAM
500GB internal hard drive + a 250GB internal hard drive
After Effects CS3Any help or ideas would be very much appreciated!
Thanks alot
