October 12, 2007 at 2:10 pmif the previews look good, the problem is normally in the codec that was rendered to or the codec it was converted to by the nle (with an outside posibility that you modified the ‘best’ render settings in ae and that is causing a problem).
so, how did you do the render… did you export or render? you should ‘render’ using compostion>make movie or compostion>add to render queue, you’ll have a lot more options for rendering…
what did you render to? for avid i would render to either the avid meridien uncompressed codec or to lossless animation codec (if you were working in dv, i might consider the avid dv codec). both would be options in the output module (in the render queue) as format options for quicktime (if quicktime is defined as the format, then click the format options button and select an option from the pulldown).
if the footage was keyed, you will also want to render the alpha, in the output module set the channels to rgb+alpha, and the color to straight (unmatted). both the lossless and avid meridien codecs support alpha (avid dv does not).
now when you import lossless into avid, you will need to tell avid about the footage… you’ll need to know what you rendered and what you comp settings were. the color space was most likely rgb, the render was probably not in fields unless you set otherwise and if you used a sd comp preset the chances are good the the pixel is 601 (non-square). i think that if you render to the meridien codec, you avid will know most of these settings automaticly.
