Hi there i hope someone can help me. I have a basic Knowledge in After Effects CS4, and i am putting together a presentation to promote my company its going to be shown on a 42″ Plasma Screen and played form either a DVD Player or a PC. I have set up my Comp with PAL D1/DV Widescreen square pixel is this ok?, i am unsure of what height and width to make my Comp size in pixels and unsure of the pixel aspect ratio. Any Help on this would be much appreciated.

    Hi Andrew,

Using that preset will be fine for a graphic presentation.

If you’re playing it back from a standard def DVD player then your final format will always have to be PAL (720×576) with the optional 16:9 PAR flag. When you encode to MPEG2 for DVD your encoder will squeeze it to the right format (as long as you pick the right options, of course!)

    Good luck with your project.

    Ben
