After Effects error: an unspecified AVI or DirectShow error occurred.
I’m having this error appear at a couple points while rendering. Once in a while I can get through the whole render without the error..but more commonly I get this.

(53 :: 33)I’m trying to render a windows media file..but I’ve also tried quicktime and I get the same error. It’s odd because nothing is changing or happening new at the points in the timeline where the error occurs. I took out all mp3s and other oddities that I could find that might screw things up. There is no video at these points either. Just a Illustrator files and some text with effects. One idea I have is when I load the project I get an error window that reads.. The following layer dependencies are missing:
Text Layer: Font Family: -

I don’t think the missing fonts are causing the aborted render, but …
1. Have you searched the COW for info on this error?
2. Can you see if your system’s RAM usage reaches the same level each time it aborts? If so, you may have some bad RAM that gets accessed at that point.Anyway, search the COW and let us know …

Yeah, I have heard of the RAM issue…however this AE project I’m working on is tiny compared to the usualy projects I do…and I’ve had this computer for over a year and have never had this problem. However, I’ve tried rendering tgas and that seems to be a good work around for now.
