After Effects CS5.5 can’t render in QuickTime. Tried it all.

I’m trying to export a project in .mov but I continue to get this error:

Not to mention I can’t import .mov files either, every time I import After Effects crashes. I have the latest version of QuickTime also. I’ve never had this problem before but I went a good bit of time without using the After Effects, it’s apparent something has changed because I’ve never had this problem prior.

I’ve tried reinstalling/uninstalling After Effects; did the same with Quicktime.

Hmm. Well after trying everything, I had had it all. I ended up re-installing my operating system. Then using disk cleanup to remove all older versions of windows. Hope others find the answer quicker than I did, but if all else fails you can always reboot your system!

In my case doing a clean reinstall of Win 7 did not solve the problem.

Following Todd’s advice about computers that have lots of hyperthreads cleared up my issues.

I had originally received this error while trying to export a quicktime animation.
(An output module failed. The file may be damaged or corrupted. (-1610153464)

and this error when trying to import .mov files (“.mov file is damaged or unsupported”)

After lots of different attempts to fix the problem I found out that my virus scanner(bitdefender) was some how blocking my quicktime codec. After uninstalling bitdefender this fixed both my problems of importing and exporting.
So maybe try turning off your firewall or antivirus for a bit and see if that fixes your problem.
