I have an uncompressed AVI that I exported using the Render Queue in Adobe After Effects. This video is about 5 minutes long and contains a ton of varying size titles. I have exported this video from After Effects timeline to uncompressed AVI. The video looks very good.

My final destination for this video is on the web. I have a flash player and I need to embed an flv for the video. I am using the Adobe CS3 Flash Video Encoder, and I have not much luck with the video.

The video has very small titles and bigger titles. When I output to 320×240 flash medium quality 400kbps, the titles aren’t really readable. When I output to 720×480 (size of AVI), it is better, but still not good. The only good thing about outputting 720×480 for the flv, is that when you fullscreen, you are able to see the video pretty clear. But when you full screen the 320×240 flv, it does not look good at all.

Any suggestions? I’ve tried just about every combo for the AVI to FLV conversion settings in my Adobe CS3 Flash Video Encoder.

Thanks for your help in advance!

    Hi Jill,

One nice thing about CS4 encoder is that they included a 2-pass VBR
which was not available in CS3. It really makes a big difference if
you have a lot of motion going on in your scene. There are some other
products that can do it as well like sorenson squeeze, flix pro from on2.
    Something to think about.

As Im sure you have noticed there isn’t much to tweak in the CS3 encoder.

You could try rendering from AE directly to On2VP6 from the “adobe flash video”
selection of the render que. But It’s still a 1 pass encoder, and I doubt your
results will be much different. Maybe a flash forum might provide more insight
since it sounds like your results out of AE are good.

    Andy
