after effects and quicktime overlay advice
hello,
my first post here looking for some advice for a relative newbie. I can view quicktime files (.mov) in quicktime player on pc, I can EXPORT quicktime in render queue, but when trying to IMPORT the file ( a full HD overlay grain) it comes up with error message unsupported or corrupt file. The file is fine it plays in vlc and quicktime player.So anyone know a solution? Is there another format I could convert the file to which will retain alpha layers and quality so I can apply this grain effect?

When you made your file what codec did you select. Also what version of AE are you using? Did you render locally or across a network(I sometimes have issues with this and QT)

I actually have managed to correct it. I was missing the avid codec and now its installed everything working good :).Cheers

Glad you figured it out. Avid Codecs are pretty good—make sure you step into all the options to turn on Alpha channels for the codec.
