    when I import an audio file into after effects (composition settings PAL DV – 720 x 576 @ 25 frames/sec.)the audio plays back at a slightly slower speed.Does anyone know why, as ive tried numerous ways to get round it?

    Try your time control window. Put your resolution on auto. If you have lowered it to make a RAM preview faster it will cause your audio to play slower as well.
