    Hello —

This might be a lame question BUT –

I just got my IT guy to install AE 7 – after a week of complaining to need it…
I am just now doing the switch from 6.5

I just tried opening the app. and it’s opening looks normal except that its called
After Effects 7.0 RE –(Render Engine)

In my AE folder all the plugins and stuff are installed but this (RE) version wont let me open a project or anything…its all grayed out and the normal Hotkeys dont work…

So – Im wondering did they install the wrong thing? Is it some sort of other app that works along with AE?
-OR- is it my machine Cant run this…

    Dual G5
    2GHz
    4 GB of RAM

    Thanks for any help!

Sounds as if they installed the Render Engine only. Get ’em to reinstall correctly this time. 🙂

Well, he had a OPTION to install it as Render Engine, OR Complete Install, just uninstall it, make sure you DO cancel the activation so it is renewed, and REINSTALL!

I did same thing one time… also you dont need a IT dude to do that, just put CD/DVD in, then complete the steps, “So easy a caveman can do it!”

Those IT guys like to feel like they’re in control of everything. If it’s anything like my office, they’ve got everyone’s administrator priveledges locked away, so you can’t install anything without their permission anyway.

    So very efficient…
