After effects 7 – Missing effects
Hi, I have inherited a big after effects composition and when I open it, it says there are missing effects. One of which is Glow which I can see is installed by default?
Can anyone explain why this After Effects could be saying this, and is there a way to report the locations/vendors of the effects that were applied?

If you are running CS3 many effects from AE7 may not have come across.
If you are running AE7 and the project was from AE6.5, the same thing can happen.
If you are running AE7 for Mac and the project came from a PC, some effects may not track.
“glow” is a common title for tons of effects form third parties (but they are usually prefaced with the developer’s initials such as CC or CE) so the previous user might have used any of dozens of glow effects.Tell us more about the original project’s source, might help someone else make some suggestions or guesses.
but you might as well start considering how you’re going to rebuild the project form scratch if you have more than, say, three or four complex effects that have not come across.
