AE/Encore Motion Menu DeInterlacing
I have made a motion menu in AE CS3 for Encore CS3. The motion in my menu are some pictures in a line scrolling across the bottom. My issue is that when I create my DVD the pictures scrolling at the bottom look very interlaced (everything else looks great). I have tried using almost every transcoding option in Encore (Upper/Lower, progressive, everything) and nothing has even remotely changed it, they all have looked the same. What am I doing wrong or what can I do to fix it? Thanks.

Does it happen in Encore’s preview, or on a burned disc?

OK, then on what display device are you viewing the burned disc?
Also, you should trace your workflow all the way back to importing the footage (images?) into AE. How is the footage interpreted in AE? What are the comp settings? Are you exporting via the Render Queue in AE or are you using Dynamic Link? What are the Render Queue settings?

I am using dynamic link. I am using a Sony professional monitor that we use all the time. My Comp Settings are NTSC DV preset in AE.

So if you are keeping your footage interlaced all the way from ingestion through export and then through transcoding, and you are showing it on an interlaced display device, there shouldn’t be any interlacing artifacts.
Are you seeing combing of edges, or are you seeing jumpy, jerky footage like you would get from reversed field order?
Either way, try exporting an intermediate file from AE instead of using DL, and then use that file as the background video for your motion menu. Does anything change?

If you haven’t already, you might also want to try turning on motion blur for the picture layers in addition to what Jeff suggested.
