Activity Forums Adobe After Effects AE7 won’t open – error parsing properties

I’m unable to load AE. Right after starting AE, I get an ‘After Effects warning: Error parsing properties’ message box, with an OK button. When I click the OK button, it clears, then nothing happens. Weird thing is that when I check my Activity Monitor (I’m on Mac) I see that AE is continuously using almost 100% of my CPUs.

I’ve tried to move the preferences out of the library/preferences folder, but same thing happens. I moved the com.adobe.AfterEffects.plist, and the After Effects.plist. Are there others I might have missed?

Thanks in advance for any and all help.

Make sure you’re going to the right preferences folder. Applications store their preferences in your user folder: Users//Library/Preferences. Specifically for AE, there’s an Adobe/After Effects/7.0 directory in there.

Trashing the plist files don’t usually do anything. They contain a minimal amount of system-related data about things like the position of the application window on screen.
