Next project, back to AE6.5 Pro, that was stable, version 7? Rubbish.

Crashes so much, the most common crash is when I close a project.

Error is After Effects error: Failure during shutdown (4)

Other one I get is the whole interface sort of freezes, evertime I try and click a window it just pings at me. And the projects corrupt. I have the autosave set to 3 minutes now.
I’ve even had AE7 tell me its corrupted the project and not to save over the top!!

Zaxwerks is a pig as well…

Sounds like your system is the pig. I run both AE7 and all the Zaxwerks
plugins and they run with no problems on my Dell XPS. Try updating your
graphics card drivers…its usually the problem folks bump into.

[Dave LaRonde] “… but we NEVER saw such things in previous versions, huh?”

Well, except for version 6.0, maybe. 😉

And when are we going to be able to import 8bit AVI’s again? UVYV of course.

    All that-s right!

And i would like to work anylonger with my good old 6.5 –
but – because i-m working in a pool with other users (normaly
these guys uses the latest stuff in town!) I-m forced to
work with 7 because Adobe doesn-t allow me to open these files in 6.5!!!!!

For me this would be the “most needed Feature” in 7.5

My AE7 works fantastically. And I don’t have a super computer. My CPU is only 2.1 Ghz…
where as at school, on the editing computers with 3GB of ram to my 2, and with two Dual Core 3 Ghz CPus, running AE 6.5, they screw up all the time. (Although to be fair, they do run all the other adobe programs as well, plus AVID, and have High School students messing them up all the time.)

I’m more than happy with my AE7. But then again, I did install it literally about 2 hours after I built my machine. Maybe it works because the computer is brand new? I don’t know… But none of the problems everyone talks about ever happen to me.

My system is fine, I have a disk image back up and when its goes all weird I just reload the image again. AE6.5 is as solid as it was, just 7 that bombing out.

I have upgrade the matrox quadro4 drivers to the very latest build not the adobe recommended build and it seems more stable.

    I’m currently running AE7 on: 1 x Mac G5 Quad 2.5, 3 x Mac G5 2.0 DP, 1 x Mac G4 1.25 DP, 1 x G4 1.5 Powerbook.

    Not a single significant problem.
