I’ve exported footage from FCP (Captured w/ Kona card, DVCPRO HD 1080i60) into AE7. The QT in AE7 shows to be 1920×1080 (1.50) so I built my comp by dragging the QT onto the “create comp” icon.

After I’ve added effects and title graphics I’m rendering out a QT using upper fields, DVCPRO HD 1080i Codec at 1280×1080.

AE7 crashes just a few frames into the render. What gives? I know it’s something simple. Just trying to meet a deadline here.

    Any ideas?

    thanks,

    Tolbert

What are your system specs, and what is going on in your project? How many layers? What types of files included? are you using any very large images, etc?

Sorry, I know it’s annoying but this is all info we will need to accurately troubleshoot.

Output an image sequence and set it to skip existing files.

Make sure your secret prefs (hold shift while in prefs) are set to flush the cache every 1 frame.

If worst comes to worst, you’ll just have to render, crash, re render, crash, re render, crash, until all the frames are created, then make a sequence reference quicktime movie (in quicktime import image sequence…) and toss it in FCP.

Are you using any 3rd party stuff?

If you’re working on an Intel-Mac you’re experiencing the dreaded AE7/Intel/Rosetta problem. The sticky at the top of this forum will help you out.

First of all, thanks for all the responses.

I did output a PIC seq at 1920×1080 and brought it through QT to make a movie file for FCP. That worked.

    I’ve got the new Mac/Intel 2×2.66 GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon, 4 GB RAM, FCP 6, and AE7.

AE7 still crashes every now and again. My comp consists of 3 layers of video (1920×1080 QTs) slowed down, 8 layers of text with animated glows.

    thanks,

    Tolbert

Try tweaking your cache settings as per the sticky post at the top of this forum. It’ll help AE7 run way smoother on an intel box. I’d strongly recommend upgrading to AE CS3 if you can. It’s a HUGE difference perfomance-wise on Intel-Macs.
