  • AE won’t render with audio?

Posted by Silver Adamson on June 25, 2008 at 10:50 am

Okay, i’m having this problem with rendering in AE.

I’m trying to render a simple 5 sec clip with some audio tracks, if i do it without audio checked in the output settings, everything goes fine. It renders in no time. But when i check the audio, it just stays at the first frame when rendering and does nothing. But it doesn’t freeze up, everything still works. I waited for around 20 minutes, there’s gotta be some problem somewhere, right?

Is your audio file an mp3? If so try a .wav file.

Nope, all the audio files are .wav format and off the Designer Sounds FX collection, which i recently acquired.

I’m continuously trying to solve the problem myself, but if anyone has any ideas, i’d be most thankful.

Well the audio format is PCM, if that’s what i should be looking for here. Not really familiar with this, i tried eliminating different parts, and the audio is really the only thing seeming to cause this glitch.

I don’t know, could it be in the settings? I’m using all the defaults although.

Maybe render out the visuals without audio, then the audio as a .WAV, and then combine the two files in After Effects for a final render…

…not really solving the problem, but it might be a temporary work around.

Yeah, i’ve tried that, and as i’ve said many times, rendering without the audio everything is okay, but when i try to render audio with the comp or just as a single file, it won’t start rendering. I can’t seem to imagine how that is caused by any of the video files. But thank you.

I’ll have another look at the files, and i’ll have another go at the output settings. Yeamh, i’d be happy if it would start rendering at all and give me an error file, but it won’t. I tried deleting the two video footage files before, but it didn’t help if i remember correctly. But as i said, i’ll give it another shot.

Check and check, nothing helped. Any point uploading the hole thing for someone to have a look? Then again, that wouldn’t help really.

Okay, a little progress, the sample rates didn’t match indeed. The audio sample rates were 48 kHz, not 44 as set. But still, didn’t start rendering. Open GL is turned off and all the files are .wav format.

Hi Silver, Did you ever find a solution to this problem. I am experiencing the exact same thing – thanks

    Hi,

I am afraid I have the same problem here:

As I am working on an animation in AE CS4 (Win 7, 3 GB RAM) where everything is synchronized beat by beat, I have to use the audio at least at RAM Previews. (Final renders is image sequence, so it does not matter there.)
The audio I use here is 16 bit 44.1 kHz WAV file, the CD standard, NOT mp3. At Project Settings I use the 44.1 kHz. NO external footage with embedded audio used.

    Here is my similar problem:

Usually after 7-8 RAM Preivew calculations AE always freezes when finishes the RAM Preview calculation. The whole applications halts and the mouse is still active, but I can not do anything, does not react to clicks, etc. This always happens exclusively only when my audio track is enabled to play.

All I can do is to kill the AE by the Windows 7 Task Manager.

I do understand that these audio-related tasks should be done in Premiere, but I have to use this WAV for creating proper and very detailed anim sync.

Is there any workaround to get rid of this kind of freeze?

    Thanks,
    Balazs
