    Hi guys and gals,
am still having this same problem. I have the update to 9.0.2, but makes no differance. Any other ideas anyone? This is getting really annoying.

Does it crash only after everything has been saved, et cetera? In other words, are you losing any work?

We have seen some cases in which it’s actually not After Effects that’s crashing, but rather that the crash reporter is being triggered incorrectly when the application quits.

If you send a bug report, that would be useful. Also, please do fill out the crash reporter so that we get the information about these crashes. These reports are extremely useful in getting problems fixed and rolled into the next update.

    Hi Todd
Yes, it crashes after I save, at the quit stage. That is, I hit Ctrl-Q, and it just does nothing. I click in the window, then it goes white. Window say “Not Responding”, and I must end process. It doesnt give me a crash report window at all. When I click end process, it just closes down. This sometimes happens with photoshop and encore too, but its ALWAYS the case with AE.
I have a feeling it could be something to do with our network but this was never the case before I got my new HP workstation, Vista 64bit and CS4.
    Does this info help?

    Simon –

I think I’ve read in my travels that there have been some problems with Wacom and Nvidia drivers and AE CS4, if you have either of those on your system. You might do a search on them. Good luck!

    I’ve got the same thing.

    I’m on Win7x64 and using CS4.

Upon closing AE, I get a crash dialog concerning “ae.blitpipe” (no idea what that is) but my project is not harmed.

I did get a few errors when starting CS4’s Photoshop recently concerning my Video Drivers not activating something….hmmm. I’ll have to look into these apparent connections here with my Video Card.

I hope we can all get to the bottom of this soon! 🙂

I recognize that component. It’s involved in hardware acceleration of previews. Hardware acceleration of previews uses the GPU to assist in drawing previews to the screen. To disable this, choose Edit > Preferences > Display (Windows) or After Effects > Preferences > Display (Mac OS), and select Hardware Accelerate Composition, Layer, And Footage Panels. See if this affects (stops) the crashing.
