I made a composition in Illustrator and separated the layers so that AE would read them as separate layers. It’s for a 720p project, but the artboard in Illustrator is larger to accomodate rotating shapes without them getting cut off in AE. When I import the file into After Effects (composition, using Layer size), everything is scaled down. The background shape in Illustrator is 1280×720, and AE is seeing it as 1046×726 (square pixels).

If I import it as footage with merged layers, The document dimensions are off but only by a little bit, but everything fills the screen pretty much as it should. But then obviously I can’t animate anything. If I import a specific layer as footage, it’s the wrong size. I’m also using square pixels in After Effects.

I also just noticed that some of my shapes are wrong in AE. For example, I made a square shape, added a few points and moved them to make a crazy looking box. In After Effects, the vertical sides are just straight up and down, like the points I added in Illustrator are not there.
