    Hi there, I am trying to achieve an effect that is simple to do in Avid but i want to be able to do it in AE7 pro

    I want to be able to replace the colour fill within text and place a layer within it -video and/or image- leaving the rest of the screen transparent.

    i’m sure there is an easy way – i just cant find it.

    any help much appreciated

    Hmm I’m no pro but I would try this:

    – type the text in Illustrator and copy it as a mask to the video you want to use as the text fill

    or

    – try to copy the text into the video using the paths as masks…

    Just my 2 cents
