When in Adobe After Effects, I sometimes want to A/B footage elements in my comp by turning them on and off and looking at the scopes. Whenever I do this the zero mark moves a third of the way up the scope, leaving empty the area below, then back again when I turn footage on or off. The waveform displays accurately according to the marks either way, and so compresses upwards in the first state.

The number values are the same, but I’m a spatially-oriented person, and losing the direct one-to-one visual comparison is maddening. Is there no way to lock the position of the scale?

There are many complaints online about the failure to update, but I haven’t found else anyone complaining about this.
