I’m working on a project with a Final Cut Pro editor who’s project uses
HDV 1080i60 footage, (1440 x 1080) with the HDV 1080i60 Easy Setup Preset.

What output codec should I use to get the best resolution/image quality/etc.

I’ve heard that since Animation is lossless I should always go with that. However, since the FCP project is in HDV 1080i60 shouldn’t I go with the HDV 1080i60 codec?

Also, this is going to be Mastered on HDCAM, will that factor in significantly?

We’ve tried several methods/codecs that seem to work fine on our monitors, but as this is going for a theatrical release we want to make sure that we are using the method that attains the highest possible quality.

Software: After Effects 6.5 Pro for Mac / Final Cut Pro 5.1.1
    System: iMac G5 2GHz Intel Core Duo, 2GB DDR2 SDRAM, OSX 10.4.7

    Thanks in Advance!

I have used the animation codec in the past, and it works great, excusing the file size. with the HDV codec , you will have compresion and it will be a mpeg2- GOP format, which i think does make things slower in after effects.
