  • AE export to external HD error-100% complete?!?

Posted by Jeffdavid63 on November 23, 2005 at 5:11 pm

I am trying to help one of my faculty members who is trying to export a section from his AE movie to an external hard drive. There is 104 GB available, the clip is only 20mins long. It goes through the whole export process and then gives and error at the end stating there was an error – approx 100% complete…but there is no exported movie file. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appriciated.

First try exporting it to the desktop and then transferring it over. This often works. If not, try another codec. My guess is that you are using quicktime. I have these types of problems with quicktime a lot.

The other thing to look out for is the format of the drive. Have you been using it happily to transfer 2GB+ files?

If your drive happens to be FAT32 format, it’ll do weird and wonderful things with files over 2Gb. I’ve had 4Gb files (about 20mins) export fine, and then when I open it get a message saying “no video content” or something silly like that.

Might not be the case, just something to look out for.
