    Hi!
OSX 10.6.6 with a AJA IO Express (8.0) on a 2.66 Quad Core Intel 6Gb memory MacPro. CS5, Final Cut Studio 3.
I have been install Io Express Version 8.1.1 drivers.
After Effects (10.0.1) Video Preview function does not work when AJA have select as Output Device. I can’t select Output Mode (I see no options).
On MAC Monitor the RAM Preview playback is normal.
FCS applications work properly with AJA 8.1.1 drivers.

Than I have been installed the AJA Mac Plug-ins for Adobe CS5 Version 8.5.
Video Preview in AE via Io Express does not work.
On MAC Monitor the playback is not realtime (max 12 fps) even in Computer Monitor only mode.
A Premier& Photoshop works properly with AJA device.

Can You help me to decide this problem.

    Thanks!

    Gena,

Because After Effects holds it’s RAM Preivew in RGBA 4:4:4:4, and the IO Express is natively a single link YUV 4:2:2 device, it is not unexpected that the RAM Preview Output is not realtime.

That being said, the problem you’re having with the AJA device selected as the output device is not normal and you should call and talk to one of our tech support representatives who can help you sort that out.

Did you find a solution for the native video output from AE? I have the same problem, contacted AJA support twice, no reply.

    1) You must install the AJA Adobe AE plug-ins because there is no AE (preferences) video preview setting for the Io Express.

    2) Again no AE video preview setting. Use AE menu bar -> Window -> AJA preview instead.

But I have problem. AE work unstable if AJA preview is select(8.1.1 drivers) 🙁

    Improvements and Fixes
    • Addressed an issue where YUV output selections erroneously appeared in After Effects>Video Preview (All).

    I have not tested.
