AE doesn’t like interframe compression; there are many other options besides mpeg2 which is not lossless btw. There is -I-only GOP intraframe encoding of mpeg2, but there’s so many non-standard encodings, that AE couldn’t know them all.

    Hi Chris,

    Thanks for your quick reply.

This is my situation: I did my initial cut in Vegas, and was hoping to do the final render in AE, importing my work to AE via an AAF file. This did not work, unfortunately, and when I tried re-piecing the cut in AE the stuttering began, making it extremely difficult. At any rate, I have applied some AE effects to part of my project, which I would still like to integrate into the larger project.

The way I see it, unless I find a solution for cutting my Mpeg files in AE, I’ll have to render my AE work twice — once for AE export, then again after piecing it together with the rest of my Vegas footage for a final render in Vegas. I hate to do this, but I see no way around it. Do you have any suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Adam

    Hi Dave,

Thanks for the response and the honesty. It is absolutely necessary to piece it together.
If I don’t come up with a solution within the next very short while I may start editing from scratch in AE. Live and learn…

    Hi Dave,

Are you saying that Automatic Duck would be a solution if I was on a Mac, but will not work on PC? I was a little confused by the wording in your message. Could you please clarify?

    Thanks,
    Adam
