  • AE CS3 freezes during rendering TIFF sequences

I hope that someone can help me with this.

I don’t know what is going on, but this morning my machine
just started freezing up while I am trying to render out some TIFF
    sequences.

I have restarted and purged but nothing working and it seems to actually
be getting worse. Now I am only able to render 2 frames before it locks up and I
have to control+alt+delete my way out.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Kevin

Do you have room on the target drive?
Any other gut feelings on your end? Impossible to debug this from where I’m sitting without some gut feelings.

ok… here is what i do when im under a deadline and i just want to go home and drink a few beers. go to the Secret menu System and set the purge to the just a few frames shy of the failed frame.
if you have motion blur on and or some effect that takes a large ammount of ram, it can cause issues from what i have found.
so i just set my purge every _X#_ of frames to like 15… some times this can get you out of a jam… i would also make sure cap locks is on when your render and turn on Task manager… task manager will give you a clue if something else is causing the issue… Windows updates get me every time… also on my old pc if i turn off multi processor it runs a lot better… i dont know why, it just does..i hope that helps some. please note that using this secret menu can be a little dangerous… that second check box is trouble. stay away from it. that is why it is a secert menu.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will definitely try these out.

It’s really strange since I have never experienced it before and it seems
to be completely random. Sometimes it stalls at the second frame and
    the next it’s frame 9, 12 or 15.

Strangely enough, when I turned caps lock off, i was able to get a
consistent 10 frames or so before it freezing up.

I ended up rendering it out 10 frames at a time and it seems to be ok.

The only extra stuff I was running was GB Deflicker which I’ve never had this
    problem with before.

Anyways, Thanks for trying to help me out.
I’ll keep you posted if it works out.
