  • AE crashes when duplicating a 3d invig (AE solid) layer.

    Greetings all!

I posted my question to the Zaxwerks forum but thought it a good idea to post it here as well.

I am trying to create a raytraced logo as described in a tut in the Zaxwerks forum by Jon Okerstrom. When I get to a point where I have to duplicate a 3d invig solid layer in the AE timeline, AE crashes. I can successfully duplicate all other layers in the AE timeline without problems. It is only the solid layer with the 3d invig applied that causes the crash. Any help is always appreciated!

    Running:
    AE 7.0 Pro.
Win – PRO Invigorator for After Effects (v4.0.9)

    System:
    Win XP Midia Center Edition
    SP2
    HP Pavilion
    Pentium D, 2.80 GHz
    3.25 GHz RAM

I just wanted to check if you’re sure you’re duplicating the layer and not the effect… since sometimes AE crashes for me when I have multiple copies of the same effect on one layer.

    Cheers,
    Michael

ps – maybe a link to the tutorial would help.

    Hi Michael,

    Thanks for replying!

I believe I am duplicating the layer. The process I’m doing is simply creating a solid layer and applying the 3D Invig plug-in, creating some 3D text via the plug-in. I then select the layer in the AE timeline, drop down the “Edit” menu and select “Duplicate” which is where it crashes. I can perform the same process on a solid layer without the 3D Invig plug-in with no problems. I sent my .aep file to the great folks at Zaxwerks and they had no problems duplicating the layer. I also tryed a reinstall of AE but to no avail. I’m baffled!

Here is a link to the tutorial.
