    Hi,

I’m new here. Watched posts over the years, now it’s time to interact. Hope you can help me out on this strange problem.

    SPECS:
Machine: MP Quadcore, 16GbRAM, ATI Radeon HD 4870, and enough Tb for storage.
    Software: AfterEffects CS4, trialversion
I also have a MBP, usually connected to the MP-QC, but which is turned off when this problem occurs.

    PROBLEM:
When i startup AE i get this popup about 30 times in a row:

    ‘Connection failed
The server “MackBookPro” may not exist or it is unavailable at this time. Check the server name or IP adress, check your network connection, and then try again. ‘

AE works, but popup keeps popping up until it finally stops after 30 popups and clicking them away.
Does AE try to connect to a server? Why? I tried to look for any connection preferences in AE but did not find it.
    What could be wrong?

Hope you can help out on this one.
    Suggestions are greatly appreciated,

    Jochum

    Hello Dave,

    Thank you for your reply.

I fixed the network by just turning on the MBP; no popups occurred. But it would be too silly to turn on 2 computers to make AE work normally on my MP.
Somehow AE want’s this network of 2 mac’s, but it does not make sense to me. Why? Is it normal AE does look for this network (for rendering perhaps)? Can it be turned off in preferences of AE?

    Jochum
