November 15, 2016 at 5:04 pmHi Dave,
It is indeed a bummer, and our apologies for the disruptions.
We’re working on a solution for this. I’m not allowed to speak to a specific timeline, but we hope to have something available soon.

November 17, 2016 at 8:41 amFor sure, the 2017 version of all post-production Adobe suite is behaving odd…
I was creating an AE TV Commercial yesterday on 2015.3 with an audio file produced in a pro studio and in wave format.
Preview was working.
Back on my MacPro with CC 2017 on it, I opened the same project (converted in 2017 so) and start previewing my job….
and crash before any preview !I f I delete my .wav file, it work well. No crash !
Please, Adobe, don’t start copying MICROSOFT attitude when in the 90’s they used to release their new OS before the could be stable and well developped enough.
I agree to be beta tester for fine tuning problems but not te solve adobe engineering staff job ! I’m not paid for that when they are !

November 17, 2016 at 11:26 amEverybody who is having issues with CC17 (especially playback issues) please install the latest update:
https://blogs.adobe.com/creativecloud/after-effects-cc-november-2017-bug-fix-update-is-now-available/if you can’t see the update yet, wait a while until you see it. try relaunching Creative Cloud app by typing Ctrl+Alt+R.
this update is 14.0.1 and is a bug fix for many disturbing issues especially for Mac users. it does not fix all the bugs that are new with this release – look here for bug#2 and #3 that are still not fixed (bug #1 is fixed I believe): https://helpx.adobe.com/after-effects/kb/known-issues-after-effects-cc-2017.html

November 18, 2016 at 5:48 pmCan’t tell if your problems are because of this but it’s never a good idea to update old machines to newest operating systems. El Capitan was released 5 years after the machine you own, it demands more processing hardware than what your machine is capable.
I have a 2011 imac and kept it on Snow Leopard for as long as I could, then I upgraded to Yosemite when Adobe wouldn’t work on SL anymore.

November 18, 2016 at 5:56 pmI’m not experiencing crashes or any of the other really bad bugs but just today I started seeing really long times for saving and auto saving an a very simple project. I thought it was related to a heavy C4D file I had in there, but I deleted it after extracting the 3D data and the long saving remained. Nothing fancy going on, a png seq, an open exr seq, 3 cameras, two lights and a null.
Speaking of 3D data, the .aec format is no longer recognized by AE and Maxon hasn’t released a new plug in, are there any planes of bringing back this functionality?

November 22, 2016 at 7:12 pmLooks like the last post was Nov 18 and the US Thanksgiving is fast approaching. I am thinking that waiting till mid December at the earliest might be a good jumping off point to install some updates. I was going to do so today but read all these bugs and just don’t need the hassle. Truthfully I may just wait till January… Anyone know what the state of bugs are as of today?? Dave LaRonde seems to have his finger on the pulse of this patient. Well Dave alive or barely breathing ?

November 22, 2016 at 10:58 pmthere was an update on November. make sure it’s 14.0.1 and you are good to go. yes there are some mild bugs but 2015.3 has some too. 2017 on my Pc is great and the november fix seemed to have resolved a long overdue bug with playback on Mac. install away and enjoy and don’t mind the haters.

November 22, 2016 at 11:18 pmSo how do you update without stepping all over the current version. I do my updates via the widget on the mac CC app.
Have not even looked for a download only option. My guess is to just wait it out as I am running an older MacPro and have current projects. This kinda reminds me of FCP X but not quite as extremeMB

November 29, 2016 at 2:46 pmMy AE 2017 was crashing every time I clicked on preferences. I found these workarounds on an adobe blog that are working for me.

On Mac cmnd+alt+shift and click AE app and it will let you delete preferences – this worked for me!!By Richard Bolland – 12:24 AM on November 29, 2016 REPLY
After Effects kept crashing when clicking ‘Preferences’ – I fixed it by clicking my adobe login name underneath ‘preferences’ then selecting ‘Clear Settings’. Worked like a charm. -
