    Hi all-

My apologies for the long post.

I’m working and rendering on AE and then sending my final shots into an older avid. But when i see the final result on the NTSC monitor, the shots look very different then what i’m seeing on my system. i’m used to a few minor tweaks (usually in color/level variations), but in this instance, I’m seeing more detail on the NTSC monitor than my computer monitor.

I’m trying to motion track objects that are in the shadows, and even if i play with brightness/contrast, levels, curves, gamma, i can not pull out the information i need. Yet when I see the shot on the NTSC monitor, it’s as plain as day where the object should be tracked.

I’ve tried recalibrating my monitors- I’ve also worked on these shots on a few different computers, all with the same end result.

I’ve talked to a few people and the idea of color space conversion came up. I’m now looking into the idea of changing the RGB footage into YIQ, and if After Effects can handle processing that conversion.

    I don’t know. Any ideas?

The footage in question is a 16mm film transfer to D1.

I am not running the Avid; I’m just seeing the results.

    R
