I am having a small problem. When I render a project in AE to a Quicktime file, and then import it into FCP, it looks alittle blury, not crystal clear. When you view the same file in Quicktime it looks great. So I am guessing that I have a setting wrong in FCP. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

and the quality output is ok?
maybe its only your video preview in AE video window setup to half resolution?

Nope, it looks fine coming out on AE, in Quicktime Player, and even in DVD SP… it is only when I import into FCP. And it looks the same in the viewer box and on a NTSC monitor.

Probably off on a rabbit trail here but IF you’re using Panther 10.3.6 AND you have an nVidia graphics card you would get the same problem in the canvas within FCP. 10.3.6 messed up the nVidia graphics drivers for some.

If all of the above is true then a solution may be to update to 10.3.8+ or retrograde to 10.3.5 (not fun).

If none of the above is true then this is a wasted post but good luck anyway 🙂

I am having exactly the same problem with AE 6.5 and FCP HD 4.5. My clips generated in AE and rendered as QT mov files look great in both of those applications. The edges get sawtoothed when I bring them into the timline in FCP HD. My QT renders out of FCP retain this jaggedness.

Have you figured out a solution for your clips yet?

I’ll keep you updated if I find anything out on my own.

    Thanks
    Michael

No one can seem to answer this question… I am glad it’s not only me.
