AE and EMT 64 Bit Processor
Hey Guys,
The company I currently work for does a lot of broadcast work… a lot of which includes graphics within it (Mainly AE stuff of course). The problem my employeers and I are having is that this machine renders way too slow… epecially when you have plugins going on all over the place…
Current specs of my machine:
Intel Xeo 2.66 Processor
2.096 132 KB of RAMI was doing a little research into a new machine. I was thinking of asking for an EMT 64 bit processor with 4 gigs of RAM with the Windows XP 64 Bit addition. This of course would be useless if Adobe After Effects couldn’t handle 64 Bit extensions… Can AE handing 64 bit extensions? Does anybody have any comments or suggestions on what I can do.

Currently AE is a 32-bit app, so you can run it in XP64, but it won’t be much faster.
You can get the fastest dual machine you can get, but it’ll never be as fast as you want. Especially with the transition to HD… we’re back to where we were a couple of years ago 🙂

If you don’t want to go Dual CPU, go Dual Core Intel EMT64 (1MB per Core) CPU (the intel 945, and 955 Chipsets). and consider setting up a little mini renderfarm with other workstations on the network for the projects that require heavy rendering.

How would you guys suggest setting up a render farm? I have no idea where to even start?

Do you own AE 6.5 PRO version? Keep in mind this software has been released, this is just of there website.
