AE 7 Tryout project – back to 6.5?
Posted by David Gerberding on April 28, 2006 at 8:37 pmI used the tryout version of 7.0 to create a project. Trial ran out and now I can’t open it in 6.5. Any solutions, work-arounds?

April 28, 2006 at 11:01 pmi asked this previusly and found out the answer
a trong worded NO
i mean even finalcut can be forward compatable with some effort, sure any new effects wouldn’t open, and it only works about 90% of the time but still, it works

April 28, 2006 at 11:05 pmAE projects can’t be opened in older versions. They never could be opened in earlier versions. Sorry.
You’ll have to recreate it from scratch, buy the upgrade or try another way to get the tryout.

April 29, 2006 at 8:12 pmDo a search for a tool called “ReVersion”. There is a beta program going on now. I dropped out due to other competitive obligations, but I am sure that it’s near complete. I truly don’t know where to tell you to search however as the original developer was one guy in San Diego, California and the buyer was rumored to be the folks at Automatic Duck.
It’s for the PC only at present and it’s not completely bug-free yet but I’ve seen it open AE 7 Pro files in AE 5.5 with the obvious non-inclusive effects absent in the older version of AE.

May 1, 2006 at 7:41 pmTwo options:
1) Spend the 300 bones.
2) Get someone who has scripting skills and has v7 to create a script that recreates the project for AE 6.5, less any (or with stand-ins for) v7-only features. Probably would cost more than 300 bones.just a thought …
