AE 7 renders slower than 6.5 (osx)
Hi!
I have just installed AE7 (osx) trial. I have been looking forward to get dual cpu, higher RAM support and fix for the Norwegian language input error.
But… AE7 sees just 3gb of my 4,5 RAM. This is strange, the manual says it should see max 3.5bg. So to my biggest disapointment, AE7 render slower than 6.5! Even with dual cpu. I took a standard PAL 720×575 animation (21 min) file and scaled it down 12%, AE7 took around 45 minutes. When I did the same scaling in AE6.5 it took 37min. This is ????? It would be very intersting to hear others experiences on render times. My system is Dual G5 2,7, 4.5 gb RAM, osx 10.4.4, Black Magic DecklinkHD.

Are you using OpenGL renderer? I have seen a major speed increase when I check this box in the render window. I have an 850XT which has helped a ton for openGL realtime previews, but I just noticed last night that they incorporated that speed increase into the rendering. I took a project that rendered in 18:25 in AE 6.5 and it rendered it in 15:30 with OpenGl rendering checked in 7. So you could give that a try.
