Every since I loaded AE 7.0 onto my computer I have been having some major crashes. I’ll be working in After Effects and then the whole computer will just freeze up. I can’t force quit. I can’t switch applications. I can’t even restart using the keyboard. Today it has happened 3x already which is the worst yet. I am using trapcode’s sound keys but that is supposed to be compatible. Any thoughts?
My computer is a Dual 1.42 GHz PowerPC G4 running Mac OS X version 10.4.7
    Thanks.

I am on a PC, but I ind that AE 7 is hog for ram…make sure that you have plenty of it. My workstation at work only has a gig of ram and I find that AE7 would definately run better with more (I have 2 gigs at home and it is way faster)

I have 2 gigs of RAM. The speed is not the issue. The darn thing crashes my computer. I mean major crashes where the screen gets funny and nothing works unless I restart and I have to restart by holding down the button on the CPU. It just happened again. Has anyone had this kind of issue?

This sounds definitely more like a hardware issue than a software bug. Anytime I had such problems(complete system freeze) it was a wrong connected hard drive, crappy pci cards or some buggy drivers. Does it happen randomly or maybe after a fixed time period(overheating?).

I think I fixed the problem. I think the drive partition where my scratch disk was located was falling asleep so when I went to RAM preview it crashed out. I moved the scratch disk and have been fine since. Knock on wood.
    THanks.
