Hey guys, thanks for taking a second to read my post.

So there are a lot of options for play back monitors for my final cut system using the MacBook Pro but what are some of the better options out there for me? I want something flat, 30″+ to mount to the wall but what will give an accurate representation of how my film will look on the big screen or peoples home TV’s?

Do I want plasma, LCD, should I look for a TV or a specifically designed computer monitor. What minimum contrast ration should I look for? Resolution, MS rate, output/inputs? Anything else?

The apple display is nice for color but a high 16ms refresh seems like it wouldn’t give me true motion, especially for quicker shots and cuts.

Any advice on specific models to check out and minimum requirements to look for would be great.

Thanks in advance for any help,

    Will Keir

Some monitors will be better than others, Pioneer is a good choice, we use them a lot for commercial/corporate use. Have you looked into a cinema display with an MXO? Aside from using a professional monitor$$$. At the very least make sure whatever you are using is calibrated. I think Spider? is a popular calibrating tool.

what does a MXO add to an apple cinema display? Does it help with the ghosting issues I’m sure a 16ms like the 30″ will have? Does it change this value? Is it similar to a canopus device I used to use for monitoring out to my TV?

Little did I know before this post, I was thinking “ah price isn’t a big deal, I’ll get something good,” that the “good stuff” is over 10k, CHRIST! So I’m limited. You have any idea what sort of specs to look for in my purchase?

Thanks for responding quickly to my post,
