Advice? Media Composer / ProTools suite based on Blackmagic gear and a MacPro
Hi Everyone,
I hope you can provide some advice in regards to a new editing suite.
Of course, I did some internet search. So here are my results 😉I want to setup a cost effective suite for a school around Media Composer 6 using Blackmagic gear.
Since we want to use ProTools as well, this is the configuration I want to go for:
MacPro running Lion 64bit
MediaComposer 6
Latest ProTools 10 (the “normal” edition)I thought of this gear:
– Blackmagic Decklink HD Extreme
– Audio Mixer “Artist Mix” (Euphonix) because it is fully supported by both apps, i.e. sliders move automatically.
– Blackmagic HDlink for monitoring of SDI signals on an HP Dreamcolor.
– Standard XLR input SpeakersCabeling:
SDI cable from I/O card to HDlink which converts the signal to DVI for the Dreamcolor.
Connect the XLR output of the Decklink Extreme directly to the speakers.
Connect the “Artist Mix” directly over ethernet to control audio in MC6 and ProTools
I think the config looks good and should provide students with a very powerful editing solution for their projects.
Do you agree or have any concerns?
Thanks a lot people!
Regards,
Sasha
