    Hey folks:

New iMac 5K 2017, with 2 TB3 connections. Also have TB2 Apple display and an old but good Apple Cinema Display with DVI and Mini Displayport or HDMI connectivity with adapters.

So the question is: can I drive all three with the iMac, with browser on left (TB2 display), timeline in center (iMac, and AV output on right (the cinema display).

And what’s the best way to do so while preserving Thunderbolt ports…

I know I need to get a dock but any advice appreciated. Thanks!

Not sure about the iMac, but with a 2013 MacPro, I cannot directly drive 3 displays, because one of these is a TV set via HDMI. I’m not sure if it would work with all TB/MiniDP connections. However, I have a CalDigit dock. If I connect the HDMI from the dock, then I can get three desktops. In addition, with Premiere and FCPX, I can set the video output to go to the third display (TV set). This is real video, not just the viewer moved onto that screen.
