    Hi everyone,

I want to reequip myself to make little video editing.
    Personnal projects mostly.
But i can do a pretty good job, having a professionnal background

I worked on AVID 5 and FCP 7 like 4 or 5 years ago.
The new Macbook pro with 16 gig RAM would be my target.

    My questions are:

Does FCP X as a good workflow with 16 G RAM or does it absolutely need 32G? (Wich the MBP can’t have)
Should I go with AVID and and monthly membership?
    or an ADOBE PREMIERE ?
Is Davinci Resolve a good option?

Looking for all of your suggestions

    Thank you

A video editor coming back to life.

Ask this on thr FCPX debates forum. You’ll get many more opinions.

Get the the top-of-the-line version. It will be fine with all NLEs at up to HD resolution. 16GB RAM is sufficient unless you start piling on effects and/or color correction nodes in Resolve. It will perform best with FCPX, should you go to a higher resolution, such as 4K. If your internal storage can handle the amount of media, since this is for personal projects, that will be fastest. Otherwise get Thunderbolt (3 or 2 with an adapter) or USB3 external storage (with an adapter). Since Resolve is free, you could start there and see what you think. Otherwise, FCPX is very inexpensive compared to the other options and will be great for you, if you get comfortable with how it works.
