  Advice on Mac Audio setup & kit

  Hi all,
  Not sure if this is the right section for my query but figured it was the most aptly named, so here goes…

  Basically I’m just after some advice on how to get a full audio setup for my edit suite.

  Here’s what I have to work with so far:
  – Mac Pro with BlackMagic Decklink HD Extreme card
  (HDMI out connected to preview screen)
  The Decklink card has AES/EBU in/out, SDI in/out + some XLR connections.
  – I’m working with FCP 6

  Current audio setup is a USB Digital/Analogue converter which connects to a fairly old 5.1 via R/L stereo (obviously not exactly 5.1 sound!) (my current 5.1 system only has RCA inputs)
  It’s also currently running out of sync with the HDMI feed when previewing any work.

  I’ve never been too ‘savvy’ on the audio side of things and the majority of the time have just used 2 standard speakers & adjusted levels in fcp. I want to set up my system to allow me to monitor audio outputs (inc. 5.1) properly and just want suggestions on what kind of kit I should get in terms of good value mixers/amps etc.
