  • Advice Needed: Combining HVX200, Canon XL H1, and Canon 7D footage

    Hello all,

Due to strict budgetary constraints, and the clients desire to have multi-camera coverage of their event, I am filming a club concert using three different cameras: HVX200, Canon XL H1, and the Canon 7D. How can I combine each of three different types of video into one FCP 6 project without an overabundance of stress? Any thoughts on the matter would be most deeply appreciated. If I could have a matching camera set-up I certainly would, but logistical and monetary issues have made that arrangement prohibitive, and I must gather camera loan favors from colleagues, hence the mix and match. Thank you in advance for any consideration that forum members can give to this matter.

    Regards,
    Chris

Transcode your footage to 1 common codec. You can use Apple ProRes or DVCPRO HD within FCP6 without any problems.

You can use FCP, Compressor, or MPEG Streamclip to accomplish the transcode.
