I know graphics cards have been covered ad-infinitum on these forums, but I wonder if someone could recommend me one specifically within my budget please?

What’s the best card, or type of card I cab get for using with Premier Pro (CS4)and possibly After effects? My budgets is around UK £600-£700. Any pros or cons to look out for?

I know at that price I’m probably not going to get anything super awesome, but as editing videos is more of a hobby than a job, I can’t really justify the scary prices of some cards I’ve seen!

    My current PC specs are:

    Intel i7 975 @ 3.66ghs
    16 gig RAM
    2 x 2TB Seagate hard drives.
    Creative X-Fi Titanium

    Thanks for reading..

    Mike.

Ideally, Quadro FX 1800 thru 5800 is ideal if u ever plan to upgrade to CS5. You could try the GTX series.

A graphics card like Quadro will only help in fast encoding and display of 3d content.

For complex effects layer you will need a better processor like core i7 with huge amounts of DDR 3 RAM

For easy scrubbing of HD content you will need raid 0 HDD with AJA Kona or blackmagic decklink.
