  • Advantages to Ingesting DV via Multibridge?

I know it’s conventional wisdom as well as “good science” to keep video in its native format if at all possible. Hence, ingesting DV via anything other than IEEE-1394 (Firewire) should result in inferior products, right? Well, that’s not what I found with my trusty old Media 100 system. Years ago I found that I got distinctly cleaner keys (in Boris products and After Effects) with DV sources brought in via S-Video and saved in a high bitrate Media 100 codec (their flavor of M-JPEG) than via Firewire.

OK, so my question is, have any Multibridge users tried this comparison, and if so, what have been your results? I’m thinking about getting a Multibridge, so I can’t try this myself.
