I just got the Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 trail. And when i import the video and drop it onto the timeline. The source and preview is black. There’s no video, just sound. The same goes for when i import a picture. NOTHING. Help me please. Oh and by the way, i’m new to this. So small words would be appreciated. Thanks.

Usually this is a codec problem. When you first open pp it then offers you the option to install more content which you should do. Also, you should install the latest version of quicktime. To play a video on your own machine for editing you need to have the same codec used to create the video on your machine to open it. For example, if you capture video with a capture card on one machine you won\’t be able to open it on another machine without the same card. However, there may be more to it as the pics should be ok! Hope this helps … another thought … if you are still using a trial version you may not get all the codecs unless you get the full version .. no sure but I think this is correct

Try toggling the track output to “on.” It’s the little eyeball on the left of the track in the timeline.

    Sometimes it’s the simple things…
