For me, I was able to resolve this in Premiere Pro 2015.4 by running Adobe Creative Cloud app at the same time as editing.
I’ve now also set it to run on startup in CC settings.

This caused me so much grief over the last day and a half.

Good old issue as everyone else. Hit play and the timeline play button switches to a stop symbol, showing it should be playing, however nothing does play.

I can scrub the timeline perfectly (no audio plays) but video scrubs past fine.

Tried the following to no avail:
    – Deleted preferences
    – Changed audio preference file
    – Delete and reinstalled premiere
    – Upgrade OS to Sierra
    – Loaded project into a new project

    None of these things worked.

Finally, I worked out that 1 particular sequence was triggering off the event (very large project).

I deleted this sequence and then saved the project. Loaded the whole project into a new project. then added just that sequence from a autosaved project where the problem was not existent. Finally this brought life back to premiere.

I have heaps of multicamera nested sequences throughout my sequences, and have been working on this project for months without issue. Deadline is getting closer and this was a massive curveball.

Just glad its over so I can get back to it.
