Adobe Premiere Accepted Codecs
Hello,
We have a client who is cutting on Premiere. He has a DVCPRO HD tape that has 6 minutes of Interview footage. We are Final Cut based. We need to capture or Transcode to something that Premiere will accept, hopefully retaining timecode if possible. I have searched for a definitive list of Premiere accpets bt all I find is a list that shows it accepting .mov files but not a specific codec within. Any help on this from Premiere editors or people familiar with it would be greatly appreciated. -

Not easy to answer. Quicktime on Premiere unfortunately is a very picky format. Prores can be an option as long as the Premiere user is willing to download the decoder from the Apple site. I have yet to see issues with Premiere Animation, but you’ll need a professional setup on the Premiere side with RAID hardware. My guess is if he can’t capture from a deck, he may have a very basic setup.
Always best to send out a sample file.
