adobe pp. 2.0, peak file generation glitch
I was wondering if anyone has encountered ths same problem. Upon importing video, the software attempts to create a peak file. In the last stage of completion the program crashes. I have edited other projects without problems? Shoud I just reinstall??
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Is the video DV that you captured with Premiere or some highly compressed stuff?

well, pp 2.0 doesnt recognize my sonyDVcam. So I have to import it through Ulead systems but i dont believe its significantly comprimised. Its still ‘full quality’ .avi file.

What kind of camera is it? Why doesn’t Premiere Pro recognize it? Using ULead is probably the cause of the problem. You should be using DV AVI Type2. What are your options?

my camera is a sony DCR-HC21. i’ve used ulead in the past with no problems. i have no clue why adobe doesnt recognize it, but this has been the only succesful way of importing the video for me. i cant understand why all of a sudden it begins to crash… just because of the peak file which it fails to fully create.

What are the device control options settings you are using? How are you trying to capture, via USB or Firewire?Are you getting a error message about the Peak file when you import the Ulead DV to the timeline? or when rendering the file for use in premiere, Ulead captures Type 1 AVI, Premiere uses type 2,
Peak files are usually audio waveform files, usually used by audio software that have expanded waveforms to speed up audio functions. -
Device control in APP2.0, i set for generic sony DV cam since it doesn’t recognize my model for whatever reason. I’m connected via firewire. And there is no error message from Ulead.
So since first posting a few weeks ago i have tried reinstalling, reimporting and trying different capture varients. What drives me bonkers is that some times it works? No problem. And mostly it doesn’t.
When it works, I import the avi. file into adobe and it immediately begins to create a peak file, shown by a blue progress bar at the bottom right of screen. If its successful, the blue bar dissappears and the project can be saved or edited. If if doesnt work, the progress bar stays full but doesnt go away and any attempt to do anything except close the software through task manager is impossible.
So somehow, someway, its possible that it works but it seems that it is dependent on ultra gamma rays emmited by a volcano on the moon and the goddess Athena wills it so, …. thats about as logical an explanation i have come up with why it works sometimes and sometimes not.
Any ideas?
