I am trying to make low res H.264 screeners of MXF footage from a Premiere sequence. They keep failing. Sometimes they work when I retry the encode, but most of the time they fail. I’ve tried switching the renderer from Open CL to Software only. Both will fail at times that aren’t consistent.

The error log says…”Encode failed because the source duration is nil.”

I’ve also noticed in Activity Monitor that 15.98 of my 16 gigs of Ram is being used to make this screener in AME. I don’t know if that is normal…

    What I’m running…

    Yosemite 10.10.1
    Mac Pro 2013
    AMD FirePro D700 6144 MB
    3.5 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon E5
    16 GB 1866 MHz DDR3 ECC
    Premiere CC 2014.2
    Media Encoder CC 2014.2

I am trying to make low res screeners with two filters (clip name and time of day timecode burned in) with the following specs…

    H.264
    640×480
    VBR 1 Pass
Target and Max bit rate 1.0 MBps
    AAC 320kbps, 48khz, Stereo

Has anyone run into this? I was making the same screeners last week and everything was fine. I think there was an update since then with either Premiere or Adobe Media Encoder. I don’t remember which one though..

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you all.

    Best,

    Pete
