  • Adjustment Layer preventing cross dissolve from rendering

I have an adjustment layer on the top video track, which contains a denoiser, unsharp mask, and vignette. When I watch it back in the timeline, all my cross dissolves work fine (I used Constant Power). However, when I render it the cross dissolves disappear and its just harsh cuts. I’ve narrowed the problem down to the adjustment layer, because when I toggle it off, the cross dissolves appear in the render.

My question is, why is this happening, and why would it appear in the timeline playback but not in the render? I’m rendering to an .mp4 with and matched the source on the video settings.

I have run in to that too. Some transitions don’t play well with adjustment layers or some effects in an adjustment layer don’t like a transition below them. I end up copying the filters and effects from the adjustment layer to the clips to get things to render/export properly.

yeah the adjustment layer with cross dissolves just doesn’t work right. What I do and works (when I add an unsharpen mask and general CC in an adj layer) is putting a black video underneath all layers. That way cross dissolves work normal.
I’m amazed that Adobe hasn’t fixed this.

November 2017 – still not fixed.
Edit: That said, I haven’t updated yet. Maybe it’s fixed in the new version?
