  • Adjusting the speed of an audio track in FCP

    Hi Guys,
I’m trying to cut a promo with a 22 second limit in FCP at the mo, and have been asked to cut to a specific piece of music. All is well and good thus far, but the music window I’m cutting to is currently taking up around 24 seconds.
Now, I know that in order to adjust the speed of the audio effectively, I have to link it to a piece of video. To that end I have added bars and tone for the duration of the piece, but when I attempt to link them, nothing happens.
Has anybody else out there encountered this problem before, and if so, what’s the solution? I’m on an online machine, and a deadline, but everybody else has gone home here, so bouncing to Pro-Tools and back again is not an option, as the rest of the offices are locked up. I also have to get this finished overnight, so it can’t really wait until the morning when I can get to another machine…
I’m at my wits’ end here, so any help that could be proffered would be much appreciated…

    C.

Select the audio then hit Command – J.

Tweak the speed of the clip.

Then go to Effects > Audio Filters > Apple > AUPitch.

Your mileage may vary, as this is better handled in other apps, but to meet deadline, it is worth a try.

You don’t have to link the audio to video use this technique.
