  • Adjusting Red black & white footage to coulor in FCP

I posted a similar post last week. But the project is now being edited in FCP7

I’m working on a project that was shot on Red, however due to an error some the footage was filmed in black & white, therefore the imported prores files are black & white. However, when I watch the Red files (not in FCP) they are colour. I’m told that the colour info. is held in the metadata.

So my question is, how to I import the prores files so that they are colour? And can I do this using Final Cut?

A friend suggested that I use Redcinex (without going into any details). But I haven’t got a clue how to use it! I opened the files in redcinex, turned the saturation up to 1, but how do I transcode the ‘edited’ files out to prores lt? And can I ‘batch export’ them?

However, I’d rather use FCP to transcode, if possible, because 3/4s of the footage is being transcoded this way, and I presume it will make it easier when I come to the end of the edit and start the actual colour grade in Color?

    Thanks!
